Viking Santa
The local fishermen at Viking Village aren’t searching for fame on reality television but they are quietly playing a major role in management and cooperative research by working closely with the National Marine Fisheries Service. These are hard working men who take pride in being leaders in their industry emphasizing responsibility, minimal impact to the environment and maintaining the fish habitat for future generations. They are our local hero’s.

Cranberry cultivation in New Jersey is believed to have begun In 1840. Cranberries were kept on board ships in barrels of cold water for the sailors to eat. They contained Vitamin C and helped ward off scurvy, which plagued seafarers on long trips. “Cranberrying” in New Jersey has become a major industry, ranks third in the United States producing about 10 percent of the total national output. Bon Appetite =)
